El original xml Wikipedia en enero de 2012 contaba con unos 3,8 millones de artículos con imágenes, tenía un tamaño de 7,5 GiB mientras que el archivo ZIM equivalente era de 9.7 GiB (aproximadamente un 30% mayor). The somewhat technical answer is that there is an issue or series of issues with parsoid on the Wikimedia Foundation servers that makes it a bit complicated to handle when there are many templates and resource-demanding queries going (this affects almost any wiki > 1 M articles and it's exponential: the English Wikipedia's 6.2M articles really amount to 100+ M items to manage).What happens then is that the job crashes randomly when we're trying to scrape.
